processAngiotensin 1 synthesis
Angiotensinogen is produced primarily in the liver and is secreted into the systemic circulation where it is converted into angiotensin I by the enzyme renin, which is secreted from the juxtaglomerular apparatus of the kidney. While other tissues express the gene responsible for producing the active renin enzyme, it is only the kidney that secretes the active renin, which is fully capable of enzymatic cleavage of angiotensinogen.Ref:James S.M.
